Clean Slate Spritzer

Clean Slate Spritzer

I'm usually more of a recipe follower than creator, but recently when I was down and out with a cold and a horribly sore throat, I was craving something cold and fizzy and full of vitamin-rich goodness.  So why not mix kombucha with a smoothie?  A little of this, and a little of that, and soon the Clean Slate Spritzer was born.  Most likely I'm not the first to mix up a concoction such as this, but now that I've landed on it, I'm sold.  This has officially become my go-to whenever I feel a cold coming on and I'm hoping you'll find it helpful in fighting off those winter germs too.

Cheers and enjoy!

Clean Slate Spritzer (approximately 2 servings)

1 peeled orange

1 peeled portion of ginger (about the size of the top of your thumb)

2 handfuls of fresh spinach

1 cup coconut water (preferably chilled)

3/4 cup mixed frozen berries (I use a combo of blackberries/blueberries/raspberries)

3 ice cubes

Juice from 1/2 a lemon

Kombucha of choice

Combine all the ingredients except kombucha in a blender until well mixed.  Pour smoothie into into a mason jar or glass of choice about 2/3 full.  Fill remainder of jar or glass with kombucha and gently stir just until incorporated.  Drink and enjoy.

* I often double this recipe to drink throughout the day, keeping the extra smoothie in the fridge and not mixing with the kombucha until ready to serve.  The smoothie portion of the spritzer is best enjoyed the day of.
