Each fair trade bracelet is ethically handmade by the fairly-paid, empowered artisans of the Swahili Coast Cooperative. They are crafted from natural, free-range Tanzanian leather – sourced locally to our cooperative. Our talented partner artisans stitch high-quality beads onto the leather cuff using a monofilament line that is similar to fishing line.
Swahili Coast connects the incredible artistry and talents of East African Artisans to global markets using principles of fairness, dignity, and respect. They refer to their strategy as “power over pity.” They strive to support the creation of worker-owned cooperatives and provide continuing support through fair exchange and promotion of workers rights in the East Africa region.
